Thanks to Charles Shattuck for doing a short talk on "MyForth" and Brian
Lavender for a short talk on "Hibernate," filling in for our guest speaker
who was stuck in Southern California due to the big storm. John from LFS
has offered to reschedule the "Full Scale Flight Simulator" talk for later

Social gathering next Tuesday, "Full Scale Flight Simulators" on March 21st
Posted 2011-02-25 10:20:00
A rare aligning of the calendars has caused our next social gathering
(Tuesday, March 1st) to occur only one week after our
last meeting (this week's "IPv6" talk). See you at
Crepeville!
Then, after a 3-week break, we'll be welcoming
John Wojnaroski, Chief Engineer at LFS Technologies, who will be talking
about full-scale flight simulation
under Linux (Monday, March 21st). This will be our first meeting back
at the public library since it reopened on
East 14th Street!

Officers remain
Posted 2011-02-22 10:00:00
Since there were no nominations made, and no objections to keeping the
current officers at last night's meeting,
elections will not be held until the regularly-scheduled ones on October.

Elections survey non-conclusive
Posted 2011-02-15 11:40:00
Only two people responded regarding
whether LUGOD
should hold elections now (since we forgot to last October!), or wait
until this October.
So we'll hold them if anyone wishes to run against the current officers,
otherwise we'll just stick with the current
ones. If you'd like to nominate yourself, or someone else, please email
typescript by February 20th
(the day before our next meeting).

LUGOD changes announced / Elections Survey

Per our officer's meeting this week,
LUGOD will soon be ending our LERT (Linux Emergency Relief

mailing list, Installfest workshops and/or
IRC chat channel), our
'vox-outreach' mailing list
(use 'vox' for event coordination),
and our old CafePress.com shop.
Additionally, we forgot to hold elections for
club officers in October! We'll be
holding an informal survey on 'vox'
to find out whether we should hold elections immediately, or just wait
until this October.

We had a relatively small, but lively crowd show up for
our short-notice bonus meeting last night, to learn about
Linux on satellites and CubeSat, and to digress into a
conversation on artificial intelligence.
(Photos,
minutes.)
This coming Monday, we'll be celebrating our 12th anniversary
(how we formed)
with free pizza, cake, drinks, and some books to give away
(thanks, O'Reilly Media!).
Mark Terranova, from the Bay Area non-profit
