  • Installfests — The next IF will either be on Sat. 1/24 or Sat. 1/31, depending on what venue we can get.
  • LERT — No news.
  • Library — No change. (Unfortunately, LUGOD library not brought to tonight's meeting for give-aways, as planned.)

Other Business

  • 10th anniversary celebration — Tonight's meeting marked LUGOD's 10th birthday, so we celebrated with:
    • Various give-aways, including gigantic collections of Linux Journal magazines donated by Mike Simons and Tedd Depner
    • A raffle of prizes:
      • Books from O'Reilly Media (Ubuntu Kung Fu, Perl 6 and Parrot, Ubuntu for Non-Geeks, Python for Unix and Linux Sys Admins, Version control with Subversion, The Art of Debugging with GDB, DDD and Eclipse, Linux Pocket Guide

      • Notebads from Google
      • Tux penguin mugs from LUGOD members Scott and Kate Miller
      • Compaq Tux penguin PEZ dispensers, Linux Music and Sound and Programming Linux Games, and a Sharp Zaurus SL-5500 PDA plus accessories from LUGOD member Bill Kendrick
      • A Linux t-shirt from LUGOD member Steve
    • 8 Village Bakery pizzas, chips, veggies and drinks (from LUGOD)
    • A personalized LUGOD anniversary cake from LUGOD member Eric Engelhard and his wife Gabriella, of Vevey Confections
    • A failed attempt at calling Pete Salzman, who founded LUGOD in 1999 (and now lives in New Jersey)
    Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen!
  • News — The next LUGOD meeting will be February 16th, and feature a Rave talk from Spectsoft.
  • Financial Report — $290.00 in voluntary dues were collected. (That includes a $200 donation from Tim Riley.)

Attendance

  • At least 80 people (no attendance taken, due to the sheer number of attendees, and lack of time)
  • Only one was trapped in the library after we locked up for the night.
