  • Someone mentioned they're playing with Mac OS X on Intel hardware.

Project Reports

  • Demo - There will be a demo at the Davis Farmers Market (8am-12pm) on Saturday, September 10th. LUGOD is participating in this year's Software Freedom Day, an international event.

  • Installfests - There will be an Installfest on Saturday, August 27th.

  • LERT - No news. Send email to lert@lugod.org if you need emergency Linux help.

  • Library - No news. Send email to librarian@lugod.org if you'd like to borrow any books. (See www.lugod.org/library )

Other Business

  • Linux Anniversary Picnic Reminder - Yesterday was the 5th annual "Picn*x" picnic and BBQ in Sunnyvale, to celebrate the Linux kernel's birthday. 625 people RSVPed, and over 465 showed up.

  • 100 Schools, 100 Days - (No report)

  • LUGOD on "Chew On This" - (No report)

  • Financial Report - $10.75 in voluntary dues were collected.

Presentation

  • Josh Parsons discussed Linux on commodity network hardware, such as the Linksys NSLU2 (a tiny network appliance that connects USB 2.0 hard drives directly to your Ethernet network and can be obtained for less than $100.)
