2002.02.18 Meeting Notes

News

  • ...
  • Ikea is selling adorable little stuffed penguins for $1.00!

Project Reports

  • Demo - The next demo is still to be scheduled.

  • Installfests - Our last Installfest was yesterday. The turnout was small (about 6 people), but it went well.

  • LERT - The last LERT call was a RedHat install on a notebook. The caller donated $40 to LUGOD! A few other calls are pending.

  • Library - John Foster donated SuSE. Pete Salzman donated some Debian burns. Two O'Reilly titles donated to the club by tonight's speakers were added to the library (two others were given away in a raffle).

Other Business

  • Food - Our speakers bought 12 pizzas and over 70 sodas for the attendees!

  • Give-Aways - Our speakers, along with O'Reilly, donated enough copies of the book "Programming Embedded Sytems" for everyone who attended (and then some!). Hitachi brought swiss-army-style knives and mints for everyone. Hitachi H8 t-shirts were given away, and a copy of Heretic II was given away in a 'count the distros' game.

  • Financial Report - $52.52 in voluntary dues were collected.

Presentation

  • Rob Wehrli of Arizona Cooperative Power in Glendale, AZ, and Larry Gagliani of Hitachi, Ltd. in San Jose, presented "µClinux".
