Seeking help with a flyer

Bill Kendrick, who normally makes flyers for LUGOD meetings, admits he's not very artistic; at the best, his flyers are functional. So, we're looking for someone who can make a really nice flyer for our 14th anniversary meeting in January. If you can help, email Bill at pr@lugod.org. Thanks in advance!

Slight topic change at tonight's meeting: JavaFX on Raspberry Pi
Posted 2012-12-17 14:30:00
Our guest speaker for tonight wrote in: "I am going to do a JavaFX Raspberry Pi talk/demo instead of WidgetFX. Should be equally (more) relevant since it is a Linux-based embedded platform, and still on JavaFX as a related topic."

Three officers elected; still seeking a treasurer
Posted 2012-11-20 11:20:00
Nominations for LUGOD's annual elections closed, and because only one member was nominated for each position, we simply held a call for objections at last night's meeting.

As there were no objections to the nominations made, Bill Kendrick remains president (root), Brian Lavender remains vice president (sys), and Andrew Roach remains secretary (typescript).

Our previous treasurer (/dev/null), Greg FitzGerald, has moved out of the area, and no other member was nominated. Therefore, we're still looking for someone to take over this position. If you'd like to nominate yourself, or another worthy member, please email typescript@lugod.org.

Nominations now being accepted for LUGOD officer positions
Posted 2012-10-17 10:15:00
As of this week's meeting, nominations are now open for LUGOD's elected officer positions: root (president), sys (vice president), typescript (secretary) and /dev/null (treasurer). If you would like to nominate yourself, or someone else, for one or more position, please email your nomination to LUGOD's secretary at: typescript@lugod.org.

Nominations will be accepted until November 19th, and elections will being starting at November's meeting. (Note: It's been 6 years since we've had to vote — usually no more than one candidate gets chosen per position — but if we do, it will take place online between the November and December meetings.) See our Bylaws for more.

Note: We are in particular need of a new treasurer, as Greg has recently moved to southern California.
