If you feel someone should be recognized as an upcoming "LUGODer of the Quarter", please e-mail the president.
To reintroduce the LUGODer of the Quarter awards again, we recognized two more people who have helped LUGOD a great deal recently:Alex Mandel
Alex has been helping run our Installfests and finding rooms for LUGOD when the library is unavailable.Chris McKenzie
Chris has also been helping run the Installfests for a long time, and has helped the project run itself. He also got LUGOD set up with a booth at this year's Whole Earth Festival (with help from Nick Schmalenberger). In recognition of their help to the club, LUGOD and EDGE Tech Corp gave them each a 1GB USB flash memory drive. We also gave them each a new book from Pearson Education.
2005-Q2: Rick O'Shaughnessy
Rick has been a LUGOD memeber since October 2000, and was chosen as this quarter's LUGODer for his tremendous help with LUGOD's booth at the 2005 Whole Earth Festival. His contributions were wide-spread, from burning CDs and photocopying flyers, to transporting material and helping set it up. To recognize his help, we've awarded him his choice of a book or t-shirt.
2005-Q1: Tim Riley & Richard Mancusi
To reintroduce the LUGODer of the Quarter awards, we recognized two people who have helped LUGOD immensely in the recent past:Tim Riley
Tim has been a LUGOD member since at least June 2003, and while he lives in Sacramento and does not make it to many meetings, he has found time to help the club in numerous ways. Along with burning collections of Knoppix discs for a variety of LUGOD events, Tim (and his company "Appahost") has donated generously to the club. He made it possible for LUGOD to afford our video projector.Richard Mancusi
Richard has shown up at LUGOD even less than Tim, seeing as he lives in Wisconsin. He has helped sponsor the annual Linux Picnic in Sunnyvale (which LUGOD co-coordinates).Recently, both Tim and Richard donated to LUGOD to help us continue meeting here at the Davis Public Library.
In recognition of their help to the club, LUGOD and O'Reilly & Associates gave them each a gift cerificate good for any one O'Reilly title.
2003-Q1: Mike Simons
Throughout the years, Mike Simons has helped countless people in LUGOD; be it on our mailing lists, at Installfests, in meetings, after meetings, or on his own time.He maintains LUGOD's demo system, and personally brings it to most events where it's needed. Mike has been instrumental in putting together some events, such as our booth at GTC West 2003.
In appreciations for all he has done, LUGOD awarded him an accelerated 3D video card. Pete Salzman, LUGOD founder, donated a set of Loki games - Heavy Gear II and Heretic II - to go with it.
2002-Q4: Kevin Murakoshi
For attending (and arriving early at) nearly every one of our Installfest workshops, Kevin Murakoshi was awarded copies of the games Heavy Gear 2 and Heretic 2 for Linux.
2002-Q3: Rusty Minden
For running our Installfests so smoothly for so long, and turning them from a money-losing event to break-even and sometimes even profitable, Rusty Minden was awarded a $100.00 gift certificate to nerdbooks.com in Roseville. (He picked out Linux Administration Handbook and Advanced Linux Networking.)
2002-Q2: Joel Baumert
For getting us our great meeting-place at the offices of Z-World, and attending practically every meeting since (to open up, and lock up), Joel has been long due this recognition. We awarded him with a copy of the books Programming Linux Games (Linux Journal Press) and The Linux Cookbook (No Starch Press).
2002-Q1: Bill Kendrick
For Bill's ongoing work as public relations officer, webmaster, and other volunteer work for the club, he was presented with a copy of Quake 3 and Heretic 2 for Linux.
2001-Q4: Rod Roark
When LUGOD was in need of new of a new place to host our website and mailing lists, Rod offered space on his colocated server. In appreciation of this donation, we recognized him as LUGODer of the quarter, and, between LUGOD and a personal donation from president Pete Salzman, presented him with a $100 gift certificate for nerdbooks.com.
2001-Q3: Doug Barbieri
Doug was our first LUGODer of the Quarter, and was picked due to his amazing amount of enthusiasm for the club. Immediately after he joined the club, he began volunteering at our demos and installfests, and became an active member of our mailing lists. In appreciation of his enthusiasm and help, LUGOD presented him with a copy of the game Quake 3 for Linux.
