- Hands-On Demo —
We held a demo at the Davis Food Co-Op this past Saturday, as part of their
month-long "Healthy, Wealthy and Wise" series of event. People were there
chatting with us almost the entire time; probably around a dozen.
It was run by Bill Kendrick, Tim Riley and Brian Lavender, with
last-minute help from Alex Mandel.

We received a hand-written letter at our PO Box, informing us of the
existence of a non-profit in Maryland that collects used PCs and donates
them to people in need. [More details to be posted here in the minutes.]

- $134.00 in donations were collected.

Thanks to O'Reilly Media and Thinkgeek.com, we had a large collection
of prizes that we gave away during a free drawing: "Linux shark"
car stick-ons, Tux penguin baseball caps, a "Linux cheat sheet" t-shirt,
a number of Tux penguin plushies, and a set of books!
- Food
Thanks to Village Bakery in Davis for giving us a discount on pizza,
and to Greg FitzGerald and Bill Kendrick for offsetting the cost of
pizza (so that we could buy something tasty and local!).
Thanks to Eric Engelhard and Bill Kendrick for buying cakes from
Nugget Market in Davis. And thanks to Andrew Roach for supplying
drinks, and Steve Inness for bringing a number of other treats.
Presentation
- Gabriel Dunne discussed "Processing" a popular open source programming
language and environment used by scientists and artists alike to to
create images, animations, and interactive exhibits.
