Linux User Group of Davis Linux Emergency Response Team (LERT) Welcome Message v0.0 Hello! You have contacted LERT, the Linux Emergency Response Team. We're members of LUGOD (Linux User Group of Davis) who have attained a fairly high level of proficiency at Linux and donate our time to helping other people who are having problems with their Linux boxes. We do this because we like promoting Linux by helping people who use it and to generate a small amount of money for LUGOD. Please send email to lert@lugod.org stating: 1- Name, address, email address, phone number and best time to reach you. 2- A detailed description of the hardware you're using along with any ISA or PCI cards. 2- The distribution you're using. 3- A detailed description of the problem you're having or what you would like to have done. 4- If you know how, send the output of dmesg and any relevant lines of /var/log/messages (please not the whole thing). While this would be helpful, it't not necessary. 5- List in as much detail as you can, when you'll be around so we can make an appointment. Based on this information, we'll get someone out to your home pronto. In return, you're asked to sign a release form and make a voluntary donation to LUGOD. Give whatever you think the help is worth to you. Most donations are in the range of 10-25 dollars for a home visit, which is quite reasonable. Before any work is done, you'll be asked to sign a release form. You can obtain a copy of the release at: http://lugod.org/lugod/documents/lert_release.html It basically releases the helper, and LUGOD, from any damages that may occur to your system. It's very unlikely, but accidents do happen. Peter Jay Salzman LUGOD/LERT
