What Is SDL?

Simple DirectMedia Layer is an Open Source cross-platform multimedia library designed to provide fast access to the graphics framebuffer and audio device.

SDL supports Linux, Win32, and BeOS. Ports are in progress to MacOS, IRIX, Solaris, and FreeBSD.


Who Makes SDL?

SDL's main developer is Sam Lantinga, Lead Programmer for Loki Entertainment Software.
