Meeting Minutes

Patrick Ferriter, Zultys Technologies
ZIP4x4 Linux-based IP Phone

Davis Library

Photos by Bill Kendrick

A tiny Intel-compatible PC running RedHat Linux, acting as a mini-version of Zulty's MX server.

A ZIP4x4 phone. Notice the ethernet cable it's connected to. It's running Linux inside, too!

A close-up of the ZIP4x4 screen and some buttons.

The back of a ZIP4x4. It has additional ethernet ports, and can act as a network switch!

A black ZIP4x4 phone.

Patrick Ferriter, from Zultys, beginning his talk.

More of Patrick.

Zultys is a relatively new company. They created these products in less than a year and a half!

About 25 people showed up for the talk.

Doug Barbieri stole the camera from Bill Kendrick and took this rare photo of him.

Patrick using his hands to explain how the phones can handle the mixing of various lines, to create 5-way conference calls, internally!

An overview of the ZIP4x4's connectors.

An amusing slide explaining Zultys' choice of Linux for the ZIP4x4 phone.

They have a Windows GUI application (a Linux one is promised) which lets you control your phone from the desktop. (It looks similar to Instant Messenger software, and in fact can let you text-chat between phone users!)
