LUGOD will be holding a free Linux Installfest workshop [http://www.lugod.org/if/] at UC Davis early in October: Saturday the 6th. Please be sure to register in advance [http://www.lugod.org/if/rsvp/] if you'd like to get Linux installed and configured on your computer.
