Permission has been given to use the official logo on clothing
hats, etc) as long as they are made by a Debian developer and not sold
   for profit.

Regarding the swirl logo:

This logo or a modified version may be used by anyone to refer to the
Debian project, but does not indicate endorsement by the project.

Apparently the genie bottle is for "official" use only and the swirl is
for open use. Clever. Interesting that I've never seen the genie bottle
logo before... even on a Debian developer business card =P

So why isn't the genie in the upper-left corner of their page?

I usually have a GPG digital signature included as an attachment.
See http://www.gnupg.org/ for info about these digital signatures.
My key was last signed 10/14/2003. If you use GPG *please* see me about
signing the key. ***** My computer can't give you viruses by email. ***
