The patent was filed in 1996, but in 1995(granted the end of 1995), the
company I worked on had a toolbar like the one described.  Many sites did.
I believe that frames were out at the time(or shortly after), but we never
converted it to them because of the lack of support in browsers for
frames(and buggy support.)
