At a bare minimum, you're just doing multiheaded display.
No 'drivers' needed.  X-Window can do this pretty much out-of-the-box,
I believe.

Where it gets cool is when particular software takes ADVANTAGE of the
screen, display some data on one layer (e.g., via one video card),
and some data on the other.

What would simply be left monitor & right monitor on a typical
multi-headed display becomes 'front' and 'back' layers on the
