As a newbie, who is very hardware ignorant, I think
your topic has a lot of value. Please consider

- what to look for/avoid in a MODEM

- peripherals in general:
  - scanners,
  - zip drives,
  - printers,
  - media readers for compact flash or smart media
memory for cameras.

- what are the pros and cons of building your own
versus buying a linux box?

- what are reasonable expectations when buying a linux
box? e.g., Will all peripheral be attached and
working in linux? Will security be considered? If
something goes wrong...? Generally, what warranties
are available?

Thanks for doing this topic.
