We are currently working on a more browser friendly street map. The problem you are having is with Opera's JavaScript support. If you use Internet Explorer you should have no problems.

We use ESRI's ArcIMS mapping products and they are a little behind in their support for some browsers. We are hoping they will fix some of their JavaScript files so they are more browser compliant.

In the mean time we are working on a ColdFusion mapping application that will depend much less on JavaScript. We are also updating the old version of the static page maps.

Thanks for your comments, we do know this is a problem. Please reply if you have other concerns.

hi there,

the davis map really stinks. i have dsl, and that map is way too data
intensive for my broadband connection. it makes me feel like i'm on a modem
again.

plus, the javascript that you use makes the browser back button useless.

it doesn't even work on opera, which is completely w3c compliant. that means
you're using non-standard non-compliant extensions.

tell you what. i'm organizing a conference, and i need a davis city map.

can you send me an url of a plain old fasioned map that's guarenteed to work
on any browser in existence? no java, no javascript. just a picture file.

thanks!

pete
