Re: [vox-tech] Mgetty-fax problems --- SOLVED (in a way)

As you may recall, I asked for help with a modem that would pick up fax
calls but failed to deliver the fax data to its host machine, running
mgetty-fax.

I have solved the problem, in a way. To quote the mgetty manual
(http://home.leo.org/~doering/mgetty/mgetty_32.html):

I am now quite certain that I have such a defective non-fax-capable modem
:-(. I have exchanged the problematic modem for another older modem, also
with a Rockwell chipset but apparently pre-dating the news above, and now
fax reception works perfectly.

Moral: make sure the modem is fax-capable before buying it.
