Thanks for all the suggestions. I looked on gentoo forums and found the answer (http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=136531&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=qt3+3&start=0). Seems like one of the ebuilds was not quite right initially. But it all works now!

When compiling kdelibs-3.2 (via Gentoo emerge), I get the error pasted
below. As best I can tell, some library linking is broken. I've
re-emerged qt and arts, but the error still occurs. Any ideas?
