I think the -dummy option is a testing option for the
connection/speed/etc. w/o writing data to the cd, and
returning values as though it had.

No, the cd is still blank. After all the commands I
typed in above, no dice. Not even a coaster. Just a
blank media.
This really confuses me. Thanks for all the help :).
