Yeah.

Using a single drive I manage 30-35 MB/sec sustained.

In a 3 disk raid I manage 60-65 MB/sec (limited by the PCI bus most likely).

Todays motherboards typtically include 4 66MB/sec or 100 MB/sec pci 
busses (enough for 8 drives).

Not that there isn't good reasons for SCSI... unfortunately it's harder
to get high density SCSI's these day.  80 MB per 1" is common in eide,
and 36 per 1" drive seems the limit in scsi.
