I have the following 6+ month contract available. The Hiring Manager is
requiring the that candidate have both solid Linux System Administration and
MySQL DBA experience to be considered.

Systems Operations Engineer (both Linux admin AND MySQL experience required)

Location: position is 100% telecommute

Duration: 20-30 hrs/week for 6-12 months

Rate: $50/hr 1099 or Corp to Corp


A high volume credit card processing company is about to go live and is
looking for a Systems Operations Engineer. The candidate MUST have
experience with BOTH Linux System Administration AND MySQL DBA. The
candidate will be on-call 24/7 and work will take approximately 20-30
hrs/week. Once candidate receive page, he/she will be responsible for
remotely logging into the production system environment and determining the
source of the problem which will primarily be either a hardware failure,
database lockup/corruption or code issue. Once the Sys Ops engineer
determines the source of the issues, he/she will be responsible for taking
the appropriate action to resolve it. If it's a code issue and the Sys Ops
engineer is unable to correct the problem, he/she will be responsible for
contacting the appropriate person to get the issues resolved. The company
systems are developed in OO Perl running on 10 RHES Linux servers with 2
clustered MySQL databases on the backend, all located at a co-location
facility in California.



MUST have BOTH Linux System Administration experience AND MySQL DBA


InnoDB for MySQL to process transactions

Perl development

Source control with Subversion, CVS or any other source control tool


Please note that if the candidate has solid OO Perl development skills, this
position could be full-time.
