A small, well funded, publicly held company producing
communications products seeks a Software Engineer to be the sole web developer
in house. They just acquired a
company, giving them hardware and core software for a new product, and they
intend to add features and to take the product to the next phase. This Software Engineer will be
developing all of the web sections of the software, including web-based user
interfaces, and web services, using Java, as well as SOAP and AJAX for web
services. They are developing under
Solaris and LINUX. They also use ASR,
JAVE/J2EE, XML, and HTTP. This is a smaller environment, with
friendly, seasoned professionals.
The Director of Engineering here does not know the market for Web
Developers, and would not set a limit on salary at this time. I imagine $70,000 to $100,000 is in the
hiring range. I will submit people
with higher requirements. This
company offers a fine benefits package, which includes 401 (k), tuition aid,
bereavement leave, and more.
In addition, there is a year-end bonus plan, which can pay out an
additional $500 to $5,000, based on company profitability. The
requirements here include three or more years of Java development experience, some of
which under UNIX, knowledge of SOAP, and AJAX web
services, coupled with a BSCS degree.
They have given tests here in the past to verify technical
proficiency. Development experience
in the communications industry is strongly preferred, but not necessary.
