Subject: [devgaf] Sysadmin jobs

My group here at AOL (Streaming Operations West) is looking to hire
some more Sysadmins. Most of what we do is host streaming music
services (Spinner, Radio@AOL, MusicNet) on Linux and Solaris. Our
office is in SF, not Mountain View.

Job requirements below. This is for a Senior Sysadmin. We're also
hiring for midlevel ones, so if you don't have quite this much
experience, consider applying anyway. Send me resumes, &c.

Job Responsibilities: Senior UNIX Systems Administrator to join AOL's
Streaming Services Group. Design, implement and maintain extremely reliable,
high performance, large capacity streaming media distribution services.
Experience designing and maintaining high-performance distributed UNIX
systems, ideally with prior experience in streaming media
applications. Job responsibilities include performance monitoring, tuning,
troubleshooting, and repairing these systems to maintain near 100% uptime.
AOL's hosting properties are monitored 24X7. Communication with AOL partners,
vendors and other AOL departments is often required. Minor coordination of
support organizations such as network operations, systems procurement, and
systems installation is often required.

Skills Required: Candidate must possess at least 5 years experience with
Unix Systems Administration (preferably Sun and Linux). Experience
administering Windows NT/2000 servers is a plus. Familiarity and experience
with web technologies (server configuration, server monitoring, CGI scripting,
HTTP protocol, network troubleshooting, and database integration) is a plus as
is experience with large storage systems and SANs. Previous network
engineering experience is preferred. Knowledge of or a willingness to learn
about various audiovisual technologies is required. Exceptional communication
and organizational skills required. Must work well in a team environment.
Must be able to serve as a resource to others - to help others learn
new skills.

Skills Desired: Special skills or knowledge of shell scripting,
Perl, TCL, HTML, C/C++, LDAP will be taken into consideration. Some
travel required. On-call rotation required.
