[vox-announce] June 4th LUGOD Meeting: Microsoft .NET
The Linux Users' Group of Davis (LUGOD), will be holding a meeting on:

6:30pm - 9:30pm
(Doors open at 6:00pm; please try to arrive on-time!)
The meeting will be held at:
Z-World, Inc.
2900 Spafford Street
Davis, CA 95616
The topic will be:
Microsoft .NET
presented by: Ted Neward
.NET is both a business strategy from Microsoft and its collection
of programming support for what are known as Web services, the
ability to use the Web rather than your own computer for various
services. Microsoft's goal is to provide individual and business users
with a seamlessly interoperable and Web-enabled interface for
applications and computing devices and to make computing activities
increasingly Web browser-oriented.
Ted Neward, author of O'Reilly's "C# in a Nutshell" and
Manning's "Server-Based Java Programming," will discuss .NET,
what Linux users should know about it, and briefly compare it to Java.
